A complete brand, marketing site and booking dashboard for social travel, built around the people in the hostel rather than the room.
Herd Travel is a US hostel booking platform for travelers who choose where to stay based on who they will meet. We built the brand, the marketing site, and the booking dashboard behind it.

Project Highlights
- Research and brand strategy: a read of how travelers actually choose hostels, used to position the platform on the company rather than the cost.
- Naming and positioning: a name and line, follow the herd, that puts the social promise ahead of the accommodation and gives the brand an instantly usable voice.
- Visual identity: a collage system using cut-out photography, stickers, stamps and hand-placed type, built to feel assembled by travelers rather than art directed at them.
- Campaign and marketing system: poster layouts and social templates running on short, spoken lines such as find your people and good beds, good vibes.
- UX and user flows: search, filtering, destination browsing and booking mapped around the order a traveler actually decides in.
- Booking dashboard: an interface for managing trips, reservations and destinations that stays quiet enough to get out of the way of a booking.
- Marketing website: a full build covering destinations, the platform story, and the path into the booking flow.
- SEO foundations: on-page structure, technical setup and destination content built to be found by people searching a city rather than a brand.
- Merchandise and social: apparel and templates that extend the collage system into the places this audience actually spends time.

Challenges
Hostel booking sites almost all sell the same thing, which is price and a bed count. That framing puts every platform into a race on cost, and it misses the reason people choose hostels in the first place, which is the company.
Selling the social side is harder than it looks. Promise too much and it reads as forced, like organized fun nobody asked for. The brand had to communicate that a hostel is where you meet people without overselling it, and it then had to survive two very different surfaces, a marketing site that has to make someone feel something and a dashboard that has to get out of the way.
Approach
We positioned the platform around the people rather than the property. Follow the herd gave the brand a line that works as positioning, as a campaign, and as something a traveler would actually repeat, and it framed the product as joining something instead of booking something.
The identity had to look made rather than designed. We built a collage system from cut-out photography, stamps, stickers and hand-placed type, which gives the brand the texture of a scrapbook assembled on the road. It is loose on purpose, because a polished system would have contradicted the promise.
The product side ran on a different logic. We mapped the UI/UX around the order a traveler actually decides in, price, place, room, then people, and kept the booking dashboard quiet so the brand never got in the way of a reservation. The marketing site carried the loud half, with destination cards showing trip counts so the platform reads as active, and SEO structured around cities rather than the brand name, since that is what people search.

Outcomes
Herd Travel presents as a travel community with a booking engine attached, rather than a booking engine with community language applied to it. The collage identity carries that across posters, apparel, social and the marketing site.
The dashboard still does the practical work of filtering by price, location and room type, and the search structure gives the platform a route to travelers looking for a city rather than a brand. Everything around it competes on something other than being the cheapest result.
