Tyler Perry, the renowned Hollywood filmmaker and media mogul, is facing a $260 million lawsuit filed by actor Derek Dixon, who accuses him of sexual assault and harassment during their work together on the television series The Oval and Ruthless. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, claims Perry used his position in the industry to foster a “coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic.”
Dixon alleges that after meeting Perry at Tyler Perry Studios in 2019, Perry made repeated sexual advances and comments under the guise of advancing Dixon’s career. The actor claims he was pressured to accept inappropriate behavior or risk losing his role. According to the complaint, Perry threatened that Dixon’s character would be written off if he didn’t comply with his alleged demands.
One of the most serious claims involves an alleged incident in a trailer on the set of The Oval, where Dixon says Perry cornered and groped him. Dixon says he rejected the advances and ultimately chose to leave the show to avoid further harassment, later turning down an offer to work for Perry as a writer.
Perry’s attorney, Matthew Boyd, has firmly denied all allegations, calling the lawsuit a "scam" and asserting the claims are fabricated in an attempt to extract money. “Tyler will not be shaken down,” Boyd said in a statement, expressing confidence the case will not stand up in court.
This developing case marks a significant moment for one of the most powerful figures in American entertainment and is expected to draw close attention as it proceeds through the legal system.
