Disney is kicking off the holiday season with a heartfelt new animated short, A Disney Holiday Short: Best Christmas Ever, directed by Academy Award® winner Taika Waititi. Now streaming on Disney+ and across Disney’s digital channels, the film takes center stage in the company’s 2025 holiday campaign, “Make Someone’s Holiday Magic.” The short delivers the charm, warmth, and imagination that have defined Disney storytelling for nearly a century.
The story follows a young girl whose hand-drawn doodle magically comes to life on Christmas morning after Santa confuses her sketch for a wish. Together, they embark on a whimsical journey of friendship and discovery that celebrates creativity, kindness, and the joy of believing. Legendary Disney voice actor John Goodman lends his voice to the lovable character “Doodle,” bringing his signature warmth to the role. The short’s animation was guided by veteran Disney animator Eric Goldberg, with production support from Untold Studios and creative agency adam&eveDDB.
To extend the magic beyond the screen, Disney is inviting fans to take part in an interactive Times Square experience on November 12. Visitors can scan a QR code to submit their own doodles and see them come alive on a Disney digital billboard — a one-of-a-kind celebration of art and holiday spirit. With “Best Christmas Ever,” Disney continues its tradition of inspiring families worldwide to share joy, imagination, and togetherness during the festive season.
