Disney announced Hulu will officially replace Star as the global General Entertainment brand on Disney+ beginning October 8. This move marks another step toward the platform’s unified app experience, scheduled for 2026.

Alongside the rebrand, Disney+ is rolling out product updates designed to simplify navigation and improve recommendations. A new top navigation bar will feature a “For You” tab that uses an upgraded personalization engine, plus individual tabs for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN depending on subscriptions.

Visual upgrades include modernized poster-style artwork, cinematic displays, and new tags like “Season Finale” and “New Series.” On mobile, iOS widgets will provide direct access to shows, with exclusive mobile-first features set to arrive in the year ahead. These updates set the stage for Disney+ to merge its brands under one streamlined experience.
