- Ad-free subscription tiers will increase by up to $3 in November.
- Disney aims to align its global streaming strategy with the U.S. model.
Disney+ Canada is undergoing a major shift this fall as Hulu officially joins the platform, replacing the Star hub across all international markets. The integration marks a new era for Disney’s global streaming presence, offering Canadian users the same unified app experience as U.S. subscribers.
Alongside the rebrand, Disney+ is also implementing another price hike — the fourth consecutive annual increase. The ad-free standard plan will rise to $15.99 per month, while the premium 4K plan will cost $16.99. The ad-supported option remains at $8.99 per month as the company encourages adoption of its lower-cost, ad-driven model.
Disney says the Hulu merger won’t affect the existing content lineup, but instead brings Canada closer to its U.S. operations ahead of further global updates in 2026. The move follows a year of change for the streaming giant as it works to balance subscriber growth with profitability amid intensifying competition and rising costs.
