BAFTA-winning actor Micheal Ward has been formally charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. The charges relate to alleged incidents involving one woman in January 2023. Ward, 27, known for his breakout role in Top Boy and films like Blue Story and Empire of Light, strongly denied the accusations and affirmed his full cooperation with the investigation.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charges after reviewing evidence, with a court appearance scheduled for August 28 at Thames Magistrates' Court in London. Authorities emphasized the importance of a fair trial and warned against speculation or commentary that could compromise proceedings.
Ward, born in Jamaica and raised in the UK, rose to prominence in 2019 and is set to star in the upcoming Western Eddington, slated for UK release on August 22. His legal team has not issued additional comments as of now.
