During Taylor Swift's Eras Tour at Toronto's Rogers Centre, fans set a new record for mobile data usage. On November 21, attendees used 7.4 terabytes of data, surpassing previous records for a single event at the venue.
This data volume equates to uploading 182,000 photos or streaming 1,600 hours of video. It's also enough to stream Swift's entire music catalog 6,300 times.
Rogers Communications had anticipated high data demand and invested $8 million to upgrade the 5G network at Rogers Centre. The enhancements provided three times more network capacity, equivalent to the coverage of 33 towers in downtown Toronto.
Over the six performances, fans on Rogers' 5G network used a total of 42 terabytes of data. This underscores the increasing role of mobile connectivity in live events.
