Fortnite is officially coming back to the iOS App Store in the U.S. next week—over four years after it was pulled in the middle of a messy legal fight between Epic Games and Apple. This time, Epic is signaling it’s ready to move forward, but only if Apple plays ball.
The comeback follows a major court ruling that found Apple in violation of a 2021 injunction banning anti-competitive App Store practices. As of now, Apple is no longer allowed to block developers from directing users to external payment options or tack on extra commissions for off-app purchases.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney didn’t hold back, announcing the U.S. return and calling on Apple to make the same changes worldwide. If that happens, Epic says it’s ready to drop the lawsuits and bring Fortnite back globally. Until then, U.S. iPhone users can celebrate the long-awaited return of one of gaming’s biggest titles—starting next week.
