‘Fantastic Four' Gives Marvel a Much-Needed Box-Office Win

Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps has soared into theaters with an impressive $118 million opening weekend, signaling a strong rebound for the MCU. The reboot, helmed by WandaVision director Matt Shakman, marks the highest MCU opening since Deadpool & Wolverine and has earned a Certified Fresh 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes. With global earnings already surpassing $218 million, the studio is hopeful this momentum will carry into its multiverse future with Avengers: Doomsday.

Meanwhile, James Gunn’s Superman continues its solid run, hitting $502 million globally and $289.5 million domestic after its third weekend. DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon remake is quietly approaching $610 million worldwide, and Jurassic World: Rebirth crossed $300 million domestic despite slowing momentum.

The top 5 also includes F1: The Movie ($165.5M total) and Smurfs, which is struggling at just $22.7M. Horror sequel I Know What You Did Last Summer has quietly turned a profit with $45M globally on an $18M budget. A24’s divisive Eddington dropped sharply in its second week, while Lilo & Stitch continues its billion-dollar march.

All eyes now turn to The Naked Gun reboot next weekend, which hopes to prove that theatrical comedies can still deliver laughs—and box office dollars.
