Lucid Motors confirmed that a production-spec Air Grand Touring drove from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany—1,205 kilometres without plugging in—earning an official Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge.
The feat eclipses the previous benchmark by about 160 km, besting Mercedes’ EQS mark and beating the Air’s own WLTP rating by 237 km. Hyper-miler Ümit Sabanci piloted the run, using alpine descents and regenerative braking to showcase Lucid’s 5 mi/kWh efficiency and 900-volt architecture.
Beyond bragging rights, the record bolsters Lucid’s push to counter range anxiety ahead of its upcoming Gravity SUV and mid-size platform. The company noted that its fast-charge tech can still add 248 miles in 16 minutes—meaning even this marathon stint could have been topped up over a quick coffee stop.
