The FBI has released a photo of a person of interest connected to the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, urging the public’s help in identifying him. Officials confirmed they recovered a high-powered, bolt-action rifle in a wooded area near Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot Wednesday while speaking at an outdoor event.
Investigators believe the gunman fired from a rooftop before fleeing into a nearby neighborhood, blending in with college-aged crowds. Authorities say they possess clear video footage of a suspect but have not yet released it publicly. “The person blended in well,” Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason noted, adding that officials may release the footage as the investigation develops.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was pronounced dead shortly after being struck by a single round. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. The killing, described by Utah’s governor as a political assassination, has fueled bipartisan condemnation and heightened concern over political violence in the United States.
