OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank have revealed five new U.S. AI data center sites under the $500 billion Stargate infrastructure initiative. The sites span Texas, New Mexico, Ohio, and the Midwest, and together with Abilene’s flagship campus, bring total planned capacity to almost 7 gigawatts.
The new builds include a major SoftBank-backed facility in Lordstown, Ohio, and a Texas project with SB Energy that will deliver rapid AI compute deployment. Oracle-led expansions add gigawatts of capacity near Abilene and in new regions, reinforcing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s role as Stargate’s backbone.
Launched in January alongside the Trump administration, Stargate is accelerating faster than expected, positioning the U.S. at the forefront of AI infrastructure. With over $400 billion in commitments already secured, the initiative is on track to surpass its original goals while generating tens of thousands of new jobs.
