The 97th Academy Awards will make history by streaming live on Hulu alongside its traditional ABC broadcast. The ceremony is set for Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET. Hulu subscribers can also access the event on-demand the following day.
Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the event, taking over from Jimmy Kimmel, who led the past two years. O’Brien, known for his late-night shows, brings his unique humor to the Oscars stage. He quipped about his new role, saying, "America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars."
Nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025. Films like Conclave, Anora, and The Brutalist are expected to be strong contenders. The 2024 ceremony saw a viewership increase, with 19.5 million tuning in as Oppenheimer dominated the awards. With the addition of Hulu streaming, the Academy aims to reach an even broader audience in 2025.
