Stanley Issues Recall After Reports of Lid Failures and Burns
Stanley, the maker of the widely popular travel mugs, has announced a major recall on millions of lids, raising safety concerns among users. The issue stems from lids detaching during use—often while the drinker is mid-sip of hot coffee—leading to burns and injuries. The recall impacts approximately 2.6 million mugs sold since mid-2016.
The problem arises because the lid threads can shrink under heat, causing them to loosen and potentially detach. Dozens of burn injuries have already been reported globally.
Stanley has issued a strong warning for customers to stop using the affected Switchback and Trigger Action models immediately. For those who own these mugs, the company is offering free replacement lids to resolve the issue.
