How to Pack a Suitcase: Travel Packing Tips

Whether you’re going on a weekend trip or a long overseas journey, knowing how to pack a suitcase efficiently is essential. The following packing tips can help you save time, and space, and reduce stress.

Choose the right suitcase

When choosing a suitcase, you need to think about your destination and the length of your trip. For shorter trips of a few days, a carry-on suitcase is usually sufficient. If you intend to move around from place to place, make sure a suitcase has sturdy wheels and a strong zipper. A large, hard-shell suitcase can add lbs in weight before you even start packing. Ordering a quality lightweight suitcase from an online store may be a good option.

Along with a good suitcase, you also need a tracking solution. Why not use a good tool to know the movement of your luggage? Packy is a secure and swift package tracking solution that offers online help. It’s a free tracking service for orders and parcels from over 800 carriers worldwide. Some of these carriers include FedEx and DHL Global.

You can monitor your order securely using an Android app. All you need is a tracking number and you can get real-time updates on the local or international movement of your shipment. If logistic updates contain Chinese characters, Packy will translate them into English.

Create a packing checklist

A packing checklist will ensure you don’t forget essentials or overpack.

Clothing

Base your clothing choices on your itinerary and the weather. For a trip of a week, you don’t need much more than three pairs of trousers or shorts in neutral colors and four mix-and-match tops. Take two or three pairs of shoes that serve different functions and plenty of underwear.

Toiletries

Your toiletries will include items like travel-sized shampoo, toothpaste, and skincare items. Airline regulations require liquids in a carry-on to be in containers of 100ml or less. Make sure you store liquid toiletries securely to prevent leaks.

Electronics

Electronics you need to take with you include your phone charger, adaptors, and headphones.

Travel documents

You will need to keep your passport, credit card, tickets, etc. safe. It helps to keep them in a secure travel pouch.

Space-saving packing tips

Roll clothes

If you roll soft fabrics like t-shirts and leggings instead of folding them you will save space and prevent wrinkling.

Use packing cubes

Using packing cubes is one of the best suitcase packing tips to help you stay organized. You can use separate cubes for tops, undergarments, and bottoms. Separating items like this helps you to find them faster.

Choose items you can mix and match

Choosing clothing items that you can mix and match is one of the best ways to save space when you pack a suitcase. For instance, you can wear a simple black dress with sneakers during the day and dress it up with jewelry or a glitzy scarf for the evening.

Maximize carry-on space

In your carry-on bag, you should pack an extra set of clothes, devices and gadgets, medications, and important documents. Wearing your heaviest clothing like a jacket and boots can give you more room in your bag to accommodate other necessary items.
