Sony has increased the U.S. price of every PlayStation 5 model by $50, effective August 21. The updated list is $549.99 for the standard PS5, $499.99 for the Digital Edition, and $749.99 for the PS5 Pro. Sony said it’s “navigating a challenging economic environment,” and confirmed no changes to accessory pricing.
The company specified the change is U.S.-only for this round, after separate adjustments in other regions earlier this year. Newswires and market reporting link the timing and scale to cost pressures, including tariff uncertainty that has complicated electronics supply chains.
Analysts expect the move to ripple through holiday planning as retailers update promos and bundles. Competitor pricing has also been fluid in 2025, with prior console and accessory hikes noted across the category—another sign that hardware economics remain tight heading into the fall slate.
