Apple to Launch $599 12.9-Inch MacBook in 2025

Apple looks set to pull a surprise move in the MacBook lineup with a 12.9-inch model starting at just $599, potentially hitting shelves by the end of 2025. This will be the first Mac to run on an A18 Pro chip, a gutsy shift that puts iPhone silicon inside a laptop—squarely targeting Chromebook buyers and first-time Mac owners.

Sources say the ultra-thin design will land in eye-catching shades like Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow. It won’t have Thunderbolt, sticking to standard USB-C ports, but at this price point, Apple’s clearly betting the combination of style, portability, and MacOS will more than make up for it.

Production is reportedly on track to kick off before year’s end, with units rolling out from Quanta by early 2026 at the latest. If the 5–7 million shipment projections hold, this could be Apple’s most disruptive MacBook release in years—proof that even in Cupertino, budget can still mean bold.
