If you’re looking for a way to boost your site’s SEO performance, then guest posting could present a great opportunity. If you can find the right sites relevant to your industry, you could generate traffic and authority within your industry very quickly.

Here are some top tips on how to find those guest posting opportunities.

What are the benefits of guest posting?

Guest posting can have a number of benefits for you and your website. Not only is it an effective way of getting high-quality backlinks pointing to your site, it can also be a great way of building your brand awareness within your chosen field. If you can secure a guest posting opportunity on a site with a strong reputation within your industry, you could see a big improvement in your brand's visibility, along with the strong SEO benefits that come from securing a high authority backlink.

Tip 1: Use Google search to find sites

The first tip is really quite simple. Just search for the industry you work in (e.g. health, jewellery making, etc.) and then add phrases like ‘write for us’ or ‘submit guest post’ and then see what results you get. You could also try adding phrases like ‘guest blogging guidelines’ or even just ‘guest post’. There are many options you can try.

Once you have the results, start searching through them to see if any decent opportunities are available. Don’t restrict yourself to the first page of results. Go all the way through to page 5 or even page 10. Not all sites prioritise optimising their contributors or submission guideline pages, so you don’t want to miss out on a really good opportunity just because it didn’t appear straight away.

Tip 2: Check guest posting directories

Searching for guest posting directories is another quick and easy way to find opportunities. Simply do a quick search in Google and see what directories you can find. Many of the results will have been compiled by actual bloggers, and they may even include some tips and advice on how to get a guest post accepted.

The only thing to be cautious of is if the listings are out of date. Make sure that you double-check all opportunities before you try submitting a guest post to avoid wasting your time on an opportunity that doesn’t exist anymore.

Tip 3: Learn from successful guest bloggers

As you’re searching through Google results and directories for opportunities, you might find that you come across the same author names a lot. If you do, make sure you keep a note of them as they may well guide you towards some good guest posting opportunities.

As you go through established blogs in your niche, check those big-name authors and see if they have written guest posts anywhere else. Simply search for their name and then ‘guest post’ and see what appears. Given that you will be looking for the work of some established names in your industry, chances are that the sites they have posted on carry a lot of authority.

Tip 4: Find your competitor’s guest posts

Depending on your industry, you may have some competitors who are already writing and submitting guest posts. If they are, it can present a good opportunity to get some of your content on those sites as well.

Simply use an SEO tool like Ahrefs to find all the backlinks your competitors have. Then, as you comb through those links, you should be able to find the sites where they have published guest posts. Simply add those to your list of opportunities and reach out to them.

Tip 5: Use a guest posting service

If you’re struggling to find guest posting opportunities by yourself, you can always look at a guest posting service or blogger outreach service. By going to a professional provider, they can handle the sourcing of your guest posts for you. Many services will also write the content for you, ensuring that it’s relevant to your industry and the keywords that you want to target. This can be a great option if you’re finding searching for the right sites too difficult or too time-consuming.

By following the above steps, you should find an absolute treasure trove of guest posting opportunities. If you can successfully get content on those sites, you could find your website shooting up the search rankings in no time at all.
