Updated January 8th, 2024

As of January 2024, the anticipated release date for Apple's Vision Pro headset has gained more clarity. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in a revelation on December 24, pinpointed a "late-January/early-February" timeline for the spatial computing device. Kuo stated that the initial batch of Vision Pros, totaling around 500,000 units for the entire year, is set to be shipped to Apple within a month. This follows earlier reports suggesting a scaled-back projection, with Apple adjusting expectations from one million to "fewer than 400,000." Despite these figures, the 500,000-unit target remains modest for a company of Apple's scale. The Vision Pro, positioned as Apple's most pivotal product of 2024 by Kuo, represents a significant venture into a novel category and form factor for the tech giant, challenging industry norms with its high price point and the historical underperformance of VR technology.
